Why is it, do you think, that people get married?

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

"….Because we need a witness to our lives. There’s a billion people on the planet. I mean, what does any one life really mean?
But in a marriage, you’re promising to care about everything- the good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things…
All of it. All the time, everyday.
You’re saying "Your life will not go unnoticed, because I will notice it. Your life will not go unwitnessed because I will be your witness."…."

The Grim Reaper

Thursday, November 10th, 2005

Nobody heard her cries.
Nobody heard her screams.
She had been too weak to live;
Now she is too weak to die.
She tried calling out for help
For someone who would save her
Rescue her from the demons within
Give her comfort and soothe her pain
Dry her tears and tell her
That sun will shine once again
And the darkness will forever dissipate.
She waits and waits, sobbing
By the roadside, shivering.
Cars drove past, lights blaring
But none stopped to her aid.
She tries her hardest to fight the feelings ammounting inside her
But the voices,
They just grow stronger and stronger,
Subduing her conscience,
Silencing it.
And then it begins.
The pain started to engulf her, slowly at first.
She screams for it to stop, to go away
But her plea falls on deaf ears as
The pain travels through her veins
Till she was fully immersed in it.
She knew it and she felt it.
Her spirit was dying and there was nothing she could do about it.
Her eyes widened and her lips parted.
She had lost her struggle with life…to death.
Her body lay slumped on the tarmac,
Like a parcel waiting to be collected.
She would no longer be
Someone’s daughter,
Someone’s sister,
Someone’s compatriot;
She would just be a statistic,
A number,
A figure,
Nothing further…
Finally, someone arrives at the scene.
Lifting the lifeless body into his arms,
He carried her off into the shadows of darkness.
It was done.
Her pain had died with her
And along with it, her memories and hopes.
She would suffer, no more…

what’s your deepest fear?

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were all meant to shine, as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
